Chronic Pain, pain lasting for longer than 3 months,  affects 1 in 3 people at some point in their lives.

The best approach to managing pain is a combination of medical intervention, physical rehabilitation and psychological support to improve quality of life when dealing with pain.

An initial consultation is required with one of our GPs to discern the cause of the pain, assess management to date and to arrange medical imaging such as MRI, Xray or ultrasound as appropriate to reach a diagnosis. The best treatment plan is then decided and may include medication, a referral to physiotherapy, pain specialist or psychologist as appropriate. Some causes of pain do require referral to hospital for inpatient care but this is rare.
