How To Make This Lockdown Fly By

Not the news we wanted but the news we needed.

We know that this lockdown isn’t ideal for a lot of people and it can be very frustrating to those who have now lost their jobs or have had to close their businesses. Unfortunately Covid-19 doesn’t care and knows no boundaries.

The actions the government have taken are for the greater good of our public’s healthcare system. The lockdown will hopefully break all current lines of transmission for the virus which will help suppress it down to a level where it is safe to reopen again and can be more easily controlled.

We’ve come up with some helpful tips to help you get through this lockdown and to keep yourself occupied.

This is probably something you’ve heard us preach on about before but it’s so important not only for our body but for our mental health as well. Do your best to get some form of exercise in every day and get out of the house. Studies have shown that exercise is a great way to reduce anxiety and depression and releases natural happy endorphins into your body. Exercise doesn’t have to be anything strenuous or intense. It can be as simple as going for a short walk around the block within your 5km radius.

Get Creative

Now is a good time to do something you’ve always wanted to do. Maybe try your hand at painting or poetry. Try to do something that’s going to stimulate your mind and give yourself a project to work towards. It could be as simple as building a birdhouse, making creative Christmas gifts or even setting up an online shop or blog. Your options are limitless.

Read A Book

Catch up on your reading wish list. We’re not going to have any nights out or lunch dates in the next few weeks so use this time to catch up on your book list. There’s sometimes nothing better than sitting in on a cold winter’s night when it is miserable outside wrapped up in a blanket and with a good book.

Do Your Christmas Shopping

There’s no doubt that Christmas is going to be different this year. With everything closed now until the end of November now is actually the perfect time to do some Christmas shopping online. Try your best to use this time to support local businesses who have had to close their doors and move their business online as a result of this lockdown. It can be as simple as buying a gift voucher or actually purchasing some products.

Keep In Touch With Friends & Family

It’s back to the days of Zoom parties and quizzes. Make sure you stay in touch with your friends and family through the entire lockdown to ensure you can all support one another. Make sure you are staying in touch with those who may be particularly lonely during this time. It can be as simple as sending them a letter, arranging a zoom call or even a simple phone call. We all need to look out for each other and if we do that we can all get through this together.
